VIDEO GUIDELINES
The Pediatric Video Project creates videos for kids between the ages of 2 and 18 years old, so get creative! Below, you can find a few video ideas and examples to get you started.
Guidelines:
Please remember that these videos are for kids as young as toddler-age, all the way up to 18. It’s important that the content of your videos is G-rated (including song lyrics, clothing, and what can be seen in the background).
Try and avoid anything fitness related. Sports and dance videos are fine, as long as you are focusing on the fun elements of these activities, and not the health or fitness benefits.
You can take the video on your phone or computer, but try and hold it horizontally and with good light.
Please try to make the video at least around two minutes long; there is no maximum length.
If you feel uncomfortable videoing yourself, that’s ok! You can make the video of the project you are doing and just leave yourself out of the frame. Make sure to talk very loudly if you are doing this or do a voice-over!
Introduce yourself briefly at the beginning (Hi, my name is _____ and I’m going to be doing _____. I hope you enjoy it!)
If you are doing an art project, clearly state what materials are needed. If the children might not have certain materials, be sure to list substitute materials/alternate ways to do the project.
Speak slowly, clearly, and enthusiastically so that the kids can understand.
When you’re done, you can end the video by saying “I hope you enjoyed my video!” or “Have a great day!”
